Arch of Titus

99.00

This reproduction of an oil painting by Dutch painter Antoon Derkinderen displaying the Arch of Titus is dated 1887.

The well-preserved Arch of Titus was presumably erected by Domitian just after the death of Titus (his brother) in AD 81, in honour of the victories of Titus and Vespasian in the Judaean War. Father and son shared a joint triumph on their return to Rome.
